Welcome to Wildstone! We are a budding ceramics studio in Buena Vista, Colorado, focusing on functional ceramics for the home. Wildstone is also a working studio, though - check out info on the website about ceramics classes and studio space.
There is something unique and wonderful about forming objects with clay... it allows you to move, smooth, and texture it into an unlimited array of shapes.
I am drawn to simple but functional shapes. Pottery may be an art form, but its beauty is inherently connected to its function; bowls, plates, vases, and pots are meant to be used, not just looked at.
A farmer enjoys eating the fruits of their labor, fresh from the earth, untraveled and minutes young - the vegetables, potatoes, or fruit burst with flavor. Food this fresh deserves to sit upon or in something equally as beautiful and organic. The bowl or plate provide a stage for food to display their vibrant color or unique form and shape.
My pottery embraces simplistic lines and color, enhancing but not overshadowing the food within. Formed and shaped by wrinkled and dried hands, not mass produced, but produced sustainably... not generic replicas of the piece before it, and not without fingerprint or color variation. Pottery made by hands to fit in hands.
